Habesha – What’s Interesting? – (Part 1)

18.jpg‘Habesha What’s Interesting’ :- is where i share and discuss topics that i believe are helpful and interesting to my readers.

Consider this as our get-away from the Ethiopia-thing we talk about all the time.

Anyway, it’s Friday and there is this feeling that a Friday can only make you feel. Call me weird, but i am a curious person and ‘very curious’ at times. I love to challenge myself and i am usually able to do that when i ask the simple yet powerful question “WHY?”

So, what do i find interesting on this particular day?

Well – - -

It all started this morning when i woke up and found myself asking questions. This morning however the questions i was asking myself was about myself. Yeah. I know what you’re thinking. Anyway let me explain my ‘weird self’.

Have you ever felt like you’re not sharp mentally on an any given day? The question is not if you’re smart enough a person or not.

Have you ever woke up one day and felt less-sharper than, let’s say, the week before?

Lost yet? If not, keep reading.

Anyway, today was that kind of day for me when i woke up from my sleep. So, like i always do, i asked myself the simple question “why are you feeling this way boy? (Yeah, i talk to myself that way. I talk to me as a boy)

I am not saying by asking myself ‘why’ i always get the answer, but it forces my brain to function in a unique way and it helps me focus on a particular problem i might have.

By asking myself that simple question, guess what happened?

I found out why? Would you like to know? But first i have to tell you a bit about myself.

I am what you call a boring person, by choice. At least, to most people i am boring. Al because of my passion to books and reading. I don’t know how i’ve become the person that i am today, but i am a ‘voracious reader’.

In books, i find the solution to numerous things. If i need to know something, i will read about it – even if that means i have to book a “For Dummies” book. Because if i don’t know something, that’s the only way i can and will learn about it.

So – - – back to my story.

In the last month, i have been slacking on my reading. Hey, i won’t say i was too busy to read – that’s an excuse i leave for others, as i personally never believed that could busy to read.

When i say i was slacking on my reading, that’s excluding the 6 hours i average every day on reading news, interesting articles and so on. Yep – do you think i am full of it? If you do, i would ask you a simple question. Can you average 6 hours a day on your work? If your answer was a “yes”.

Then reading for me is what your job is for you – but in my case, i don’t have to read. I just love doing it. So whatever you do for your fun time – for me it’s reading.

Now you can see, i hope, how i ca read so much.

For the 2nd or 3rd time – - – Back to my story

So i found out why i felt that way and it was because i was slacking on my reading. Again, i was not busy enough to fit-in my reading. Maybe my mind was just taking its own break.

So once i found out the solution i went crazy. I was like gosh when was the last time i had been to the bookstore to read or purchase some interesting read? I couldn’t think. I mean i could, but it was at least a month ago or more.

So what did i do? I calmed myself and told myself – “not time to panick boy”.

I took a shower, ate a simple breakfast and started heading “guess where”? – The Book Store.

I have once read a magazine article where a Fortune 500 CEO was asked,

How do you improve yourself as a person and a leader? And he said, “The books i read today are very much responsible for the person that i become next year.”

That, to me, is what reading is ll about. It can shape you as a person and can transform you to be something or someone you never imagined you can be, literally.

That’ s how my Friday started. And it was an interesting one for me.

So i told myself why not share this interesting and weird day with my Ethiopian people?

I’d love to hear your perspectives on this- leave a comment if you have anything to say…
